Victoria Bietz
Violin Masterclass Teacher
Victoria Bietz studied with Mark Kaplan at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she received her B.A. in Violin Performance. She went to The Boston Conservatory for her Masters in Music and studied with longtime Boston Symphony Orchestra member Joseph McGauley. Victoria has worked in San Diego as a freelance violinist since 1998. She has played with many groups including: San Diego Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Symphony, Long Beach Opera, Classics 4 Kids, Old Globe Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Broadway San Diego, Luscious Noise, California Chamber Orchestra, San Diego Repertory Theatre, and former groups: Orchestra Nova, San Diego Chamber Orchestra, Opera Pacific, and Starlight Theatre. At the beginning of 2024, Victoria because the small business owner of Caprice Strings, which plays special event music for weddings, private parties, and corporate events across Southern California.
In May of 2018, Victoria went on the international tour of China with Pacific Symphony. She played in beautiful concert halls in Shanghai, Hefei, Wuxi, Chongqing, and Beijing. A couple years before in 2015, Victoria went on the San Diego Youth Symphony & Conservatory international tour to China as an Alumni. Concerts were played in Beijing, Yantai, and Shanghai, with a special performance at the famed Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing.
Victoria grew up in the eastern San Diego mountains of Jamul. Her musical family fostered her interest in the violin and she became heavily involved in San Diego Youth Symphony, where she was Concertmaster for three years. While in SDYS, Victoria traveled to Sun Valley Idaho, Spain, Canada, and Eastern Europe. While in High School, Victoria competed and won prizes in both the MTAC Goodlin Scholarship Competition and the ASTA Solo Competition. At age 19, Victoria began subbing with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra.
As a freelance violinist, Victoria enjoys playing in many venues and groups all across San Diego and Orange County. You can find her playing a San Diego Symphony Orchestra concert one evening, teaching private violin lessons the next morning, and perhaps see her that afternoon playing a wedding on the beach.
